THE EAST VILLAGE

The East Village Apartments lie in the heart of the East Village and are centrally located in Manhattan, New York City. Adjacent to Greenwich Village, Soho, TriBeCa, Little Italy, Chinatown and the trendy Lower East Side, the East Village is a fashionable Bohemian quarter with a colorful past and one of the more unique neighborhoods in New York City. In its early years, it was home to the famous Stuyvesants, Astors, and Vanderbilts, more recently followed by the Beat, Hippie, and Punk generations, It became a center of the counterculture in New York and starting place for many artistic movements, each leaving its unique imprint. Now it is inhabited by families and is also home to New York University and its students. With its trendy cafes and restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and famously happening bar and club scene, the East Village is the perfect base for your New York stay.

New York City is all about what you read in books and see in the movies. It is a collection of small villages within the city, of which Times Square and Central Park are one of these. NY is fascinating as you walk from one neighborhood to the next. Starting North in the residential districts of the Upper East Side and Westside, the visitor observes the pre-war high rise buildings and as you walk South, the architecture changes to the rows of traditional red brick brownstones with beautiful iron windows and fire escapes, the old and new murals on brick walls and displays of art and photos on the sidewalk. The fun of NY is strolling through a park, sitting down on a bench to watch the fascinating street performers, sharing a game of chess with an old-timer, or just reading a book and watching the feisty squirrels.

It’s stopping at every quaint little cafe of the West Village, getting acquainted with the locals, trying out the new hotspot restaurants or indulging in some of the best sandwiches in the historic East Village delis. Soho and Nolita will keep you shopping for hours with trendy boutiques, or you may prefer a stroll on the Highline on the Hudson River, the city fits newest public park converted from an old train track, and then make your way to view the Chelsea art galleries. The Nightlife here is world-famous. There are experimental bars and unique speakeasies on the East side, cozy and dark jazz clubs in Soho and the West Village, and the trendy hot clubs of the Meatpacking district. You’ll forget you’ve been out walking all day and just want to keep going. All of this is what makes the New Yorkers stay in New York and we believe it all happens right here, in downtown Manhattan.

New York City is easily navigated. Broadway shows, views off the top of the Empire State building, or a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge are all just a quick subway ride or walk from here. But we have a feeling you’ll want to stick around… and here are some great ways to enjoy your time near our East Village Apartments:
